All of our Vancouver Island hunts begin and end in the city of Campbell River. Campbell River is located on the central east coast of the island and is home to approximately 30,000 full time inhabitants. Long known as the salmon fishing capital of the world, Campbell River also offers all the modern amenities required to service its population. Several excellent hotels, restaurants and shopping facilities are located in the downtown core and are an easy walk from our recommended hotel should guests have to overnight before or after their scheduled hunt dates. Campbell River's regional airport (YBL) is serviced several times daily from the international airport in Vancouver (YVR) by both Pacific Coastal Airlines or Central Mountain Air. For guests not wishing to overnight in Campbell River we recommend arriving no later than 4:00 p.m. the day prior to their scheduled hunt start and departing no earlier than 10:00 a.m. the day after their last scheduled hunting day. The Campbell River airport also offers 2 rental car companies for those guests wishing to arrive a couple of days early and explore Vancouver Island.
For the more adventurous traveller or those with just a little more time on their hands, renting a vehicle in Vancouver and travelling to the island via B.C. ferries is an excellent way to see some of the inside passage and all its beauty. Charter float planes from the south terminal at (YVR) or downtown Vancouver are also quick and efficient ways to get to Campbell River or directly to the lodge.
